There are just 16 days to go to the Beijing Olympics — and only 1,465 days until London 2012.
We're proud of the bit we did to help London win the Games. In November 2004, we contributed to London's Language Skills: a Vision for London 2012, a briefing paper for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) put together by the Regional Language Network. We highlighted the unparalleled commitment of the capital's public authorities to the removal of language and cultural barriers through telephone interpreting, face to face interpreting and written translation.
London went on to beat four other candidate cities — Madrid, Moscow, New York and Paris — at a dramatic IOC meeting in Singapore in July 2005. You can relive the nail-biting announcement here.
